Fair Isle Bowling Club

Est. 1961

In April 1961 a community within a community sprung up in Templehall with the opening of Fair Isle Bowling Club. A place to play bowls, teach, learn and socialise with like minded individuals.

The club has stood the test of time and happily there are still members from the early days enjoying the facilities.

Although there have been many changes over the last 50 years, there still remains the feeling of community. We are represented by people from all walks of life . Each and everyone contributing to the clubs success.

Fair Isle Bowling Club is also used by the Blind Bowlers who not only play every Thursday afternoon but several of their group have also played in the club’s annual Tournaments and Friendlies.

Children, as in all things, are the future . We have a very healthy Junior section with 25 children who attend twice a week to be coached by the club’s SBA Certificated coaches [4] who all hold Disclaimer Scotland Certificates.

This is also complimented by a Schools Community program where several local schools attend weekly coaching sessions where they are introduced to the sport of Bowls.

The fact that we have two full sized Bowling Green’s is advantageous and allows us to run programs like this.

From humble beginnings the club has gone from strength to strength. Today we are an organisation that caters for the needs of members as society is today.

Presently we are not only a Bowling Club but also a very well patronised Social Club, with a full program of events, e.g. Bingo, Show nights, Karaoke, Parties, Sports Tournaments etc.

Anyone who is interested in finding out more about our facilities or would like to try their hand at Bowling please contact us on the club’s E-Mail address leaving a contact number and we will get back to you.
